BBT???

June 11, 2008

OK... I have found a good BBT and I have never used one be4. I have a few questions be4 I buy it. I was wondering if u have to take ur temp at the same time everyday? Is it really hard to do the BBT??How do u know what ur regular temp is to compare to the sift that u get when ur O'ing? I have heard some ladies so that it is confusing but Im really thinking about trying it to see what happens.

Plz if someone can shed some light on this be4 I go and buy the BBT I could really use it. I have a calendar on FF and I will use that one to put my temps on. Thanks so much ladies!

KAtie..you have to temp the same time each day..as in when you first wake up..no talking, getting up etc. You will see a clear thermal shift once you've o'd but you should bd at least one more day to ensure you're covered. IT really helps to know when you can stop bd. A bbt therm is like $10 or a bit more at Walgreens. Let me attach a link to one of my charts so you can see the shift if that will help...

Kelli.. where do I start at when i first use it.. guess Im trying to ask what would be by normal temp in the morning?

My thing is that I dont get up at the sametime every morning so Im not sure if this is going to work for me.

June 11, 2008

It may not be the best if you have erratic wake times..but if you don't have issues with opks..maybe just stick to that.

Kelli... I dont understand the chart at all. LOL! That is why Im lost when it comes to BBT. Will FF tell u when it going to O by ur temps?

June 11, 2008

Do you see the thermal shift? Yes FF will tell you when you are in your fertile time..then 3 days after o..it will draw a line and tell u what day it was...

June 11, 2008

Kelli.. I seen where ur temp went up alittle then I seen where ur temp went up alot.

June 11, 2008

Ok see where on my chart is says 0..now go to where it says 1..see the shift? In an ovulatory bbt chart you will see pre o temps and then post o temps....

June 11, 2008

I think there is a section on FF where it explains the purpose..probably better than me..LOL

June 11, 2008

OK I see all of that but why did ur temps stay so high around CD 3 through 7 and then go down and then go up again all in a few days?

June 11, 2008

They will go up and down by a few tenths..and drop like they did on the green one..b/c af was coming..the blue one was a chemical..so that was a bad example..sorry.

The point of it is to see that clear thermal shift that indicates that o happened. Stand back and look at the chart overall and you'll see a pattern. Look at that red line on o day and on the left you'll see similar pre o temps..on the right..higher post o temps...

June 11, 2008

OK.. im going to look at it really good now.

June 11, 2008

LOL..if you have no issues with opks..if they are accurate..and you get af like 14 dp when you think you o'd ...you are fine..and don't need to bbt necessarily!

June 11, 2008

Ok, I added another chart where u can really see the shift..and it was around the + opk time too!

June 11, 2008

Kelli.. Yeah I have been doing OPK's and I have been getting regular +'s on them so u think that I should worry about BBT then?

Also, does it matter what part of the cycle u start using the BBT on?

June 11, 2008

I wouldn't worry about it..I quit doing it b/c it was annoying! LOL

U should start on day 1..but I've started much later..just b/f o and still saw the shift.

Good luck, Katie

Thanks. All of this is so confusing so I think i might wait a few more cycles to try it. LOL!

June 11, 2008

You bet..it can be very confusing. Read up on it if you decide to try it...but really those opks are fine and that's how I got my ds!
