Baby aspiring and progesterone for prevention of miscarriages?

Hi Crystal! I have had two m/c's in a year. My doctor told me to take 1 baby aspirin everyday. Are you taking prenatal vitamins? If not,start taking some. My doc recommends 1mg of folic acid. That is 1,000mcg. This may help you with a future pregnancy. I pray that you will not another m/c. I know how heartbreaking it is. Good Luck and lots of babydust!!!

Hello...I am sorry for you loss. I think that is terrible that a dr won't do anything unless you have another MC. Has he tested your progesterone level after ov??? The cream has a very low level. If you really need progesterone to prevent a MC, you will need to get a prescription for it. THere are different pills you can take. You need to take it after ov....Are you going to an OBGYN or a RE??? You might want to switch DR....How much trouble would it be for him to take some blood versus you suffering another MC?

Hi Crystal, I am so sorry for your losses.

I would not accept that from your Dr. His job is to CARE for you and help you have a healthy pregnancy. You PAY him to provide you with adequete care. The standard for the recurrant loss bloodwork is 3 losses, which is even too many. If he will not test you I would find another OB. You can also see if your reg primary care doc will run the bloodwork. I would not take no for an answer. THe bloodwork is not invasive, and some of the tests are less than a dinner out. There is no reason on earth to be putting it off. Good luck and baby dust!

so sorry to hear about your losses. I have also had 4 chemical pregnancies so know how hard it is. I dont understand why your doc wont investigate now? The standard is usually 3 mc's and then you should be seeing a recurrent m/c panel for testing.Well thats how it works in the UK. I think its a disgrace that he refuses to do further investigation! Maybe you should change doctor?

As regarding the baby aspirin my general doc prescribed it to me saying it 'cant' harm but when i later went on to see the recurrent m/c specialists (said to be the best in london) they told me to stop taking it because it can in fact cause harm unless you have a specific reason to take it. ie a blood disorder that causes m/c.

They said that many doc's prescribe it willy nilly to women who have had m/c's without realising it could be doing more harm than good.

I was told it CAN cause harm and may actually prevent an embryo implanting, so unless you have been diagnosed with a specific blood disorder where baby aspirin has proven to be beneficial i think very carefully about taking it.

Hope you find some answers real soon...and i would try to get to a recurrent m/c panel if i were you...its no fun being in the dark, altho after months of testing on me they still couldnt find any cause (which apparently is a good thing! according to the doc's)

hello i was just reading your posts as i am also on baby asprin and am planning to start the progesterone cream after ovulation,i have not had a miscarage but i am on clomid and was told that baby asprin could help with the lining problem,if i was to get pregnant this cycle using the cream is it bad to stop using it and should i continue to use it throughout my pregnancy,thankyou for reading.
