Antithyroid Antibodies and TTC

June 27, 2008

Hello, I have been hypo for about 10 years. My synthroid is perfect and my tsh is between 1 and 2. My antithyroid antibodies are over 1000..

I go next month to see a reproductive endocrinologist but in the mean time, is it even possible to get pregnant and carry to term with such high ATA? Thank you very much!

The role of antithyroid antibodies and pregnancy is controvertial, probably becuase we don't fully understand there significance. So long as your thyroid condition is under control, you should be able to concieve and carry the pregnancy. There are some conflicting reports that have associated anti-thyroid antibodies with miscarriage, however, the reports are not conclu7sive.

Hence, there is no simple answer to this question. I hope this helps.

Best of luck...
