Am I likely to have multiple birth?

August 13, 2007

I have been taking 50mg clomid as an added boost to my fertility as I ovulate naturally but am not getting pregnant. This is my second cycle and today I had a follicle scan which showed 3 21mm follicles and 1 14mm follicle all on left ovary, none on the right. I have been advised against ttc this month but I want to know what the likelihood of my conceiving triplets or more is likely to be. (I am also open to selective reduction.)

It is slim. Clomid only increases your chances of having twins by 10%. I don't think there are very many triblets or quads born from just using Clomid. Plus you are on a low dose.

Thanks Jessica for helping out, and Caroline, Jessica is correct, still pretty unlikely you'll wind up with triplets. If you are open to selective reduction, then go for it! You have a great chance this month of getting pregnant and please keep us posted

I just had an IUI on WEd. and Thurs. I just had my progest. levels checked this morning. THey are 8.4. What is average. I am getting a ovidrel shot tomorrw morning. Does this effect my chance of getting pregnant?

Hi alli,

if and when checked, usually like seeing Progesterone >15ng/ml., and can always ask for supplementation, but thinking your doc is giving you ovidrel for supplementation? hopefully this all works and ask your doc if this is the case and let us know...

Yes. The doctor said that the ovidrel shot this morning was to help raise my progesterone levels. How long after IUI do , if at all dx usaully want to check the progesterone levels? I had mine checked around 4 days after ovaltion and IUI's. They said they like to see it at 9 or higher at that time. I guess it would be higher if they checked it again in a few days. Is that correct?
