After failing on clomid, do you recommend IVF?

My Dr. put me on 150mg on clomid, this is my third month and again the ultrasound follicles showed nothing. My dr. is saying we should go up to 200mg but I think I should do IVF as the next step since I’m not making anything, do you think I should?

You don't necessarily have to go straight to IVF, although it does give you the best chance to get a pregnancy. You could do injectable gonadotropins with an insemination and that'll give you a reasonable shot at it, k. Both are good options

I have had 4 IUIs using 50mg of comid with no success. Now my Dr. is suggesting that I do laparoscopy. I think I am going to get a second opinion or is laparoscopy the next step?

shajhan, I had a similar clomid cyle that you described, only I had 2 mature follicles. But it was not a success, so we can never say !

although I got pregnant on my own next month. So all we can do keep trying !!

best of luck!

I actually has laparoscopy done before clomid to ensure the tubes wheren't blocked I was told it was standard and that it should be done.

MGS- You may want to do Lap to be sure all is well. It is the only real way to know how things look in there. You may go through it and find nothing is wrong but if you keep doing IUIs and then find out you do have a problem all that time, $ and emotional trouble were wasted???? If you do IVF I think it bypasses the problems you might find in a lap but confirm that with you DR. I think that is what my Dr. told me. Lots of luck to you!!

Here is a crazy question...my doctor said that after taking clomid you need to do the OPK from day 12-16 and then if you dont surge to come in and try and see if you can have the shot...but should you be having sex frequently if you are not getting a positive on the OPK? I mean its almost like you just get frustrated because you know your not doing anything?
