What is your experiance with AFP blood test screening. If you get back a positive result, are they usually inacurate due to the sensativity of the test? I just got back my results and it was slightly abnormal. I am going for an ultrasound with a specialist for further testing. Is this something I should be worried about? Thanks

There are different types of screening:
Single AFP
Triple Screen (AFP, hCG, Estriol)
Quadruple Screen (AFP, hCG, Estriol, inhibin)
These are adjusted for maternal age, and only give an approximate risk of having a chromosomally abnormal baby...A positive result will occur usually when the risk is < 1/365
