81mg Aspirin & Pregnancy

October 05, 2008

Hey ladies. I've decided on my own, which I probably should ask my doctor, to start taking an 81mg Aspirin every day. I am TTC again after my miscarriage... and I truly feel this will benefit me.

I've read that Aspirin can cause placenta abruption... but I've also read that it can really help with those who have high blood pressure. Which is me. And it says that some doctors will outweigh the placenta abruption risk with the high blood pressure being more of a risk.

I've read a few stories where women have had multiple miscarriages and then take the Aspirin and go on to havae successful pregnancies.

Any body else tried this? Am I wrong to do this on my own?

Actually baby aspirin is a good thing to take during the first trimester. Once the placenta has developed which is around 10 weeks gestational age then I would consider discontinuing it at that point. Good luck with the next pregnancy.

They make low dose (81mg) aspirin for adults. I sugguest Bayer. Just look where the Bayer aspirin is and find the low dose version. It doesn't need to be the chewable baby stuff.

Thanks you guys.

I read that you should only take baby asprin from CD 1 - Ovulation and then discontinue it... any truth to this?

October 06, 2008

wait - thats what i was always told, to deff discontune the stuff when you get an +OPK?

October 06, 2008

Hmm... any doctor's advice?

It worked for my friend. She had 6 miscarriages and went through all of this testing. Taking baby aspirin did the trick for her. I think she took it her entire pregnancy. They have a beautiful baby girl. Good luck!

Thanks all of you and Baby Dust to you all as well.

So does that mean it is safe to take it even after conception? I was thinking about taking it but decided not too since I can never pinpoint ovulation...I thought you had to stop once you o'd.

October 06, 2008

I have heard some women take it all the way up to like 35 weeks... but then discontinue because it can prolong labor.

Some say ask Dr Eva did to stop after 10 weeks... or I've even heard after the first trimester.

So I think its all doctors discretion really....

You can find it at the drug store or Walmart... they usually have those kind of meds in alphabetical order... and the Aspirin... there are SO many to choose from... but I just got the equate version (generic) and it said 81mg Aspirin.

I have a clotting disorder and my doc put me on 81mg everyday until close to my delivery. I would ask a doc before starting to take this as if it is not needed can cause problems. Good Luck and seek the advice of your doc.

I asked my doctors office today... and they said its okay for me to take the Aspirin. For some reason it gives me a peace of mind... I'm hoping it helps so I don't have a recurrent miscarriage and also helps with my blood pressure.
