7mm subchorionic bleed @ 8 1/2 weeks

Hi there I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with great hcg levels and a viable so far healthy baby. HB is 165. Well on Saturday I started to spot red so I went to the hospital. The Dr then told me about a possible placental abrubtion which I then was told by my ob it was a subchorionic bleed. They said it is small measuring at 7mm. I did not have anymore spotting until I wiped this am and had some brown discharge. No cramping either. Is there still a chance that this can turn out ok? I know it seems touch and go, but I just don't know what to do. Is 7mm really small and do I have a chance of it fixing itself?

I have been resting as much as I can but with that said I do have a sick 4 year old that needs me.

2ndchance- I believe everything will be just fine. I too had bleeding around 7-8 weeks, in fact I gushed blood and spotted off and on. There was no explanation. I was told it was subchronic bleeding as well. They basically told me that if I was not in any pain that there shouldnt be any problems. My OB monitored me closely for a couple of weeks but everything turned out to be OK. It is so strange, I never bleed as much as I did with the other pregnancies that we lost, so you never really know its going to turn out bad. I thought for sure another m/c but he stuck around for us. I hope your bleeding subsides fast and you are able to continue your normal activities with your 4 year old. I am sure you are constantly on the go with your 4 year old. Take care! Let me know if there is anything I can help with.

Thanks Samantha. On a good note I have not had anymore bleeding since that saturday. I had a bit of brownish disacharge on Tuesday which i am guessing came from left over blood from that Saturday. I have had a bit of a tough road with my ob office. i really miss my old Dr but sadley he retired and moved. So I may try another location. I felt rushed and made out to feel like a fool when I went in for my post hospital visit on Monday. I also do not even get to see the Dr until I am 16 weeks along. At this office they have you see the np for your first two visits. The nurse just called me and was so super sweet which makes me want to stay, but I just don't know if thats enough.

I would switch if I were you. You are supposed to feel welcome and comforted by your doctor. I have gone through my fair share of OBs due to the fact that they didnt take their time when I had my appointments or didnt care to answer my questions or just seemed too busy to really care about their patients individually. If you feel any discomfort in your office, change it. Especially if you are wanting to be seen more often then what they are seeing you due to comfort. My OB now she's been with me since my 2nd loss and is very caring and comforting. She actually monitored me really closely for my first trimester. It is nice when you feel like they understand what you are going through and take extra efforts to make you feel comfortable. I am glad that there is no more bleeding, it is a relief! I hate that feeling you get when you bleed, nothing in the world comforts that feeling. I hope you are resting as much as possible. Keep me posted on what you decide to do! I am looking forward to seeing u/s pics of the little one =]

hey 2ndchance, how r u feeling..i agree with samantha about switching if u dont feel welcomed and comforted by ur doctor and about the bleed, im sure everything wil turn out great..im 28 weeks preg at the moment, wen i was 6 weeks i was told i had a small subchorionic bleed, at 10 weeks it had got smaller, at 12 weeks there was a few of them, at 14 weeks i had 2 of them, one was small and the other was almost 8cm, at 18 weeks there was no sign of them at all..yayyy..i neva had any bleeding which was amazing but i was on bed rest which was kinda hard cause i got 2 young girls..try to get as much rest as u can and drink lots of water and in most situations the bleed reabsorbs..let me know how things goo :)

See the little girl on the left?

She was the result of a subchorionic bleed at 6 weeks.

Something like 25% of women bleed during the pregnancy at some time, and over half of those go on to full term deliveries!

Just take it easy.... pelvic rest, if possible.... no sex, no exercise.... try to wait till 13 weeks.

Like you, my doctor made little issue of it, other than instructing pelvic rest.

Thank you all so much. i am going to check out a different Dr on Weds. If I like that office and Dr I will switch. The one nurse at the current location has been very nice, but the lady I saw last week just seemed rude with the whole rushing thing. We shall see I will deff keep you all posted with what I decide. As far as the bleed, I have not had any since last Saturday and the nurse yesterday said thats a really good sign. I have been having lots of bed resting too. My ms is soooooo bad right now. I am having a hard time keep it together. I never had this with my son. It was so bad yesterday that all i could do was dry heive. I also have not had a lot of protein because of how hard it is to eat so i am drinking the Carnation instant breakfast stuff in hopes that it helps with my dizzy spells. Boy I have some not so great pregnancy symptoms. Funny how it crept up so strong at nine weeks. lol

I will be 10 weeks on Weds. Wow bring on the 2nd Trimester!!!!

sry to hear bout the brownish spotting, i hope all goes well at the doctors..they say brown blood is old blood and its betta then bright red, the brownish spotting culd b due to the subchorionic bleed u got and mayb ur body is getin rid of it..pregnancy should b a joyous time, but its sooo scary at times..im almost 29 weeks and even though my subchorinoic bleed is all gone im stil scared of something else goin wrong..i dont think i can sleep in peace until i hold my baby in my arms..im sure all wil go well for u..try get lots of rest :)
