4th IUI, not so great
October 26, 2008
Friday's follicle study showed that my 3 follies from Wednesday at 13R, 13L, 15L had become 12R, 14L, 20L. So, effectively, just one follicle. I took my trigger at 11pm on Friday night and IUI was this morning at 11am.
IUI was not so great today. We had only 5 million sperm post-wash.
We're taking the next 2-3 months off from IUI's in order for hub to see a urologist who specializes in infertility. He's also going to start taking a fertility supplement. We're also going to ask about blood tests for various hormones. DH has ED as well and I can't help but wonder if his sub-par s/a results and the ED are linked.
We also got the results of his s/a from last week: Volume: 1.3ml, concentration: 38 M/mL, motility: 8%, mophology 28%, WBC: insignificant. This is new since we thought that white bloodcells were causing low motility. But we now know that what was suspected to be WBC's is actually immature/misshappen sperm.
We're also discussing the potential of using donor sperm, though we have not arrived at a decision.... hubby is initially opposed to it, but he seems to be opening up to the possibility.

Hi Melissa I jst read your post and in a sence we are facing similar fertility issues. Well on the sperm front any way.
Hers a link to the details about our sperm issue: http://www.fertilityties.com/post/show/help-0-active-motility
We also have female factor infertility too as I have both pcos and endo....
But I thought I might suggest seeing and andrologist for your dh's sperm issue Im told they are better then a urologist plus you might want to look into seeing a hormone specilist (cant remember what they are called). We are in the process of getting a new andrologist so we are hoping he will be able to help us....Wishing you loads of luck and tons of ******BABY DUST******

Hubby's sperm was analyzed the andrology department this last time. Our RE clinic has a strong relationship with them. It seems that, in our area, urologists handle andrology issues... at least this one urologist DH will see.
An Endocrinologist (hormone specialist) will be our next step after blood levels are back. I already see endo for a prolactin issue.

Hi Melissa, I just wanted to give you some hope. My husband had low count and low immobility/deformed sperm. Our doctor started him on high doses of vitamins and a handful of blueberries a day. Within months his count went from 6 mil to 17 mil. We are now expecting our first baby after round 4 with iui. Don't give up!
I am throwing in the towel before the official calls the fight ...
I am Cycle day 26 and 16dpIUI and have had BFN's since day8pIUI. I am VERY crampy today so I didnt even do my progesterone today because I figured whats the point.
I guess its on to the counseling session but I think I may wait til we get back from Hawaii. We leave in about 15 days and wont be home until after December 8th. I found out about 2 weeks ago that I have nodules on my vocal chords and I have these masses in my nose that need to be surgically removed so I guess I will do that before we start TTC again.
I am really bummed, I thought the 3rd time was going to be the charm...over 3 years of this and the saga just continues
I get my BW done tomorrow but I am sure it will just confirm the BFN
This really sucks I thought we were both going to be celebrating our BFP's this week!!

Sorry to hear the news of your AF arriving Melissa. Hopefully things will get better with DH's sperms issues and when you start up again, the odds will be better.
Making, it sucks you are getting BFN's. I really hope you will find yourself with a BFP when you return to your babymaking journey. I hope your trip to Hawaii is wonderful. I have always wanted to go there!
