I got pregnant naturally at age 43 (April 2009) without even trying (no charting, ovulation detectors, etc) and miscarried at 13.4 weeks. I started trying to conceive again by charting, ovulation prediction, timed intercourse and achieved another pregnancy which was confirmed just last week (november 4, 2009). My HCG level was 20 when the pregnancy was confirmed...only went to 24, 2 days later, and then fell to just 6, 3 days after that. My doctor said it was considered a chemical pregnancy. He had put me on progesterone suppositories right away when the pregnancy was confirmed because my level was 11.1 (I don't know what normal is). My question is... my doc told me to quit taking the progesterone once he found out the pregnancy was chemical. I have yet to spot or bleed and it's been 4 days since I quit the progesterone. When should I get my period/miscarry? What if I don't get my period - does that mean I need a d & c? Is it possible to become pregnant again (in other words, should I keep trying or is it impossible to conceive that many times in one year?). And finally, should I take progesterone supplements while I'm trying to conceive again? Thank you for your help. I have no children and want so badly to have a child. I never even tried before this year - my 43rd and I know I shouldn't have waited this long.

Although the odds are stacked against you, there is still a chance and it's good you know you're at least conceiving at this time. With this low of an hCG, then theres a good chance a D&C won't be needed
