3rd iui, low sperm count after washing, follicle were 16 mm

I jsut finished my 3rd iui, now am on the 2ww. The RE said my husbands sperm was a 2 for motility and there were only 4.5 million. Usually those nubers were better. Also, i had several follicles. But,t eh two dominant ones were only 16 mm when i took my ovidril. Does that seem small? Do i have any chance? and, does it seem like my doctor is being conservative and not letting my follicles get big enough to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies? should i move to IVF, we have unexplained infertility.

Megg-Usually doctors like to see the follicle at least 18 before trigger. However, when they see the follicles at 16, they usually have you trigger the next day since follicle grow 1-2 daily. But, don't be discouraged, with my last pregnancy, I had four follicles, two were 16 so I am assuming that you can have a pregnancy with 16's. So don't fret, you definitely have a great chance. Good Luck.

Thanks! I did trigger the next day...so maybe they were over teh 18 mm mark by then. It is only 2 dpiui and i am freaking out a bit. My cousin is newly pregnant, was not trying, and got pregnant. I spent the day after my iui listening to her complain about morning sickness at a family event. i just feel frustrated discourages, and like i would give anything in the world to have morning sickness.

how are you?

Yes, triggering the next day is commonly done as the follicles by then will be 18mm..

Megg-I just took my last b/c pill today. Af usually shows 72 hrs later. Then I will wait to go in on CD3 for b/w and ultrasounds.

Hi meg I'd be so interested ing hearing how your iui turns out.

I suffer with endo and pcos but my fiancee also has sperm issues.

A few months back now my gyno had us do a trail wash jst to see how the sperm would 'shape up' for ivf (we have a low count and motility). Any way on this occassion we only had 2million sperm and after wash there was only 3 viable ones that the clinic would of been willing to use for ivf+icsi....
