39 & freaking out~

October 09, 2008

I just got my test results back & nurse said the levels were all great & very suprising for someone at my age (she did not disclose the levels). They said my ovaries are nice, round & full. We are doing one round of Clomid, an Ovidrel trigger & IUI. I am soo happy to get these results, but now the reality has set in about my age & possible quality of eggs. I read a post of a 44 yr old & that she would be better off with egg donation.

Should I ask my Dr about egg donation? I had a baby 3 yrs ago & had genetic screenings. All was fine, no fragile x, nothing at all showed up.

Should I be worried? Are there any ways to test the egg quality?

Thanks!

At 39, one should be managed by an RE, and no need with normal results to talk about egg donation at this age...many still get pregnant...things are very different however at 43 and above

Thank you so much! We are seeing an RE. With my age, he said the IUI is the best bet. After the results, he said it maybe a little soon, but at 39 there really isnt a too soon. Again TY!

You have a beautiful family. Wha a cutie your 3 yr old is!!! I know how exactly how you feel. I'm 40 ( w/4 yr old) and all test came out great for my age. My only two problems...I wasn't ovulating and only one tube open. I'm on my second IUI along with metformin, follistim and ovidrel. I'm 4 dpiui. With follistim I'm only producing one egg in each ovary. So this is starting to make me nervous about the quality of my eggs. If this doesn't work, I'll be moved up to a stronger drug instead of follistim. So I'm hoping this round works. This website has been a life saver because I realize there is people out there in the same situation as I am.

I'm wishhing you loads of

Hi there! I know how you feel worrying about egg quality. I'm 38 1/2 and my clock is ticking! I've read that egg quality really starts to decline over 40 but so many women get pregnant with healthy babies in their early 40's, I'm not going to totally panic yet. I too have a 3 yr old son and so want a sibling for him. I had my 3rd IUI this past Fri. and am hoping and praying it worked. I'm not giving up and will just keep on trucking along. Hang in there ladies hopefully we will get our BFP's soon!

Oh also, what a nice looking bunch you all are!

Julsbake,

Are you experiencing tons of cramping since IUI on Fri. I had mine Sat and the cramping is getting worst as each day goes on. I've been taking two tylenol every 4-5 hrs but it's not working. I'm debating about calling the RE's office.

October 15, 2008

Not this time....although I had a lot of cramping on and off with my last IUI. Nothing ever came of it. It couldn't hurt to call your RE. Hey with what we pay them, get your monies worth!! LOL

LOL VERY TRUE!!!
