That's great advice Nikki, and very correct, avoid using the first urine sample of the day, and thereafter, any sample is ok and yes, you do ovulate sometime during the following day after the surge.
Alexis, PCOS patients sometimes do have false positives usually a faint line as Nikki has referred to and is always there giving you this confusing scenario.
Given your history of PCOS Alexis, you may want to consult with an OB or RE to get medications to help you ovulate, such as clomid

The OPKs are different than HPT. OPKs do not show positive if 2 lines are present. The test line has to be as dark or darker than the compare line. If you get a faint line it doesn't mean anything. After you figure out how long your cycles are you can figure out when to begin testing. The day you get a + STOP TESTING! It will only confuse you. When you get a + it means you will O in 12-24 hours. Begin having sex the day of the +. The key is to have the sperm there and waiting for the egg.
GOOD LUCK!!
