You have one pounders... how exciting :)
24 week US appt and periontoligist review!
July 23, 2008
Hey Ladies!! I just wanted to let you know that I went today for another fetal assessment and had a periontoligist check them out also! Both babies are doing great! The doc and us tech nurse told me they couldnt be looking better. They are both weighing around 1.5 pounds and are measuring between the 24th and 25th week! Doctor told me to keep doing what I am doing and let them know if any concerns should arise. We didnt get any good photos because the babies were being stubborn and were positioned away from us but seeing them was enough for me. I got back again in 4 weeks at 28 weeks! Hopefully then they co-operate a little more! I am really starting to think that there is one of each in there.....never seen anything that I shouldnt have but I just have that gut instinct!!! Anyway, just thought I would keep you updated!
Summer both babies were head down for us also and we looking inside my body rather than out which sucked because we only got a couple glimpses of their faces. They were moving around all over the place and the poor tech was having a hard time lol! Our babies have weighed about the same (only a gram or two out) at all our fetal ass appts so far so hopefully it stays that way. The periontoligist we had was very quiet but very nice. The nurse tech was super nice!
Lori, I am so excited that they weighed 1.5 pounds I was like OMG that is awesome!! I cant wait to see how much they weigh at my 28 week one!!!

Doc told me that at this point if for reason they had to be born that they would survive so that made me feel better. Obviously I want them staying in there for a while yet but it was still good to know. I only have at the most 13 weeks and 5 days left. I was told that if I make it to 38 weeks they will induce me on that day which would be Oct 28/08.
Liane yeah they told me the same thing..When i got that false poaisitve for the FTN test they told me that if the reswipe came back positive that they would start steroid injections to mature the lungs..I think she said that at any time that they had signs that i was about to go into labor for sure that they will start the injections..so that is great..I think that shelly had those injections to i will have to ask her about that and how that process went nect time i see her on here..or if you see her before i do ask her or me will you please if it is not to much trouble..just trying to get all the info that i can since i am not on as much since i am on the bed rest and i may not catch her on here..thanks liane and it is so amazing the advances in medical care..
Hi Liane!
So happy your appointment went well and your little bundles of joy are growing nicely! Is anyone thinking of doing a 3D or 4D ultrasound? I'm thinking of doing one but I'm not sure... what do you girls think? I'm debating on whether or not I want to see what he looks like before he is born!

Have you not done one yet at the doctors office? We had one done for a second to find out the sex. They got a good pic of his face. We are doing it again on Monday, as they have to get the 4 chambers of his heart, since they couldnt get that last time,he wasnt behaving but did well on everything else so none of us could complain. Anyways so we will get to see Noah 2D and 4D on Monday...cant wait, its super cool, and I swear I already can tell what Noah will look like. I can tell his bone structure already, call me crazy but I really feel like I can tell who he will look like, as of now :)
Jolene the doctor took me off of work at the beginning of July because I was getting sore lower backs. I am not on bedrest though. They are just wanting me at home rather than at work. I was told to stay active so I have been doing my best! I could very well have Halloween babies!! I have a feeling though that they will be here before 38 weeks which would be October 28 but you never know!
Summer, if I see Shelly I will definately ask her. I never had a FTN test done. Is that something that is routinely done?
Maria, we are not doing a 3-D or 4-D ultrasound because we are scared of accidently finding out the sexes and we really dont want to know!

Im sure they will be here before then too. Either way its going to be a GREAT time to have them. Well it might be cold up there, but here in SC its cool at nights but like 60s or so in afternoons. When Noah gets here its basically going to be chilly out, which im excited for, minus flu season, which means my little guy wont be going out to too much if I can help it though. I know im just gonna wanna take him everywhere...haha. I cant wait to try out his new stroller and stuff when he gets here. Im just soo excited to experience all this and so glad its only 17more weeks until I hit 40weeks :)
I am not sure as to if it is routinely done..but i was haivng those braxton hiick and she was like it can be done as early as 24 weeks to see if you will go into pre term labor..but i now my practice has screened me for so many things without me asking so i guess it varies from practice to practice...you can ask your doc if you start to experience contractions like the braxton hicks..lets hope you don't
Yes Liane you will know..your stomach will get tight and it could just be half your stomach it doesn't have to be the entire stomach..my stomach gets tight and you will def now what it is..because it has never happened before and you will def notice the change..one sign that i have it rapid heart beat and i start to breathe a little hard when it happens..but it may be different for everyone..but as fast as it starts it will go away if you sit down and relax for a little while..
Your welcome..I hope that you don't experience it though because when i first had it, it was kind of scary you know cause i did not know what to think..i thought i may go into labor.LOL..but don't worry just keep doing what you are doing..and make sure that even though you remain acitve that you take rest periods frequently..that was my mistake..i wanted to stay active and at work as long as possible and when i came home i was cooking and doing chores and stuff and not taking breaks and getting off my feet..so the doc told me bed rest and i have to stop all that because it brings on the BH..so take frequent rest periods..i started delegating stuff out to people.like my fiance's mother will cook for us 3 times a week and my mom will cook the other two days..and the weekends we would eat either left overs or hust go out and get something..and my fiance he does the laundry and i fold isnce i am on the couch or bed all day..but take care sweetie.
Yeah you will know exactly that it's braxton hicks - your stomach completely changes. I don't know how often the fFn test is done - i failed the very first one at 24 weeks. if there is any signs of preterm labor (including failing the fFN test) they will go ahead and give you the steroid injections. i am not sure when other docs do the test...i am thinking of you girls...you are in the back stretch and though it may seem like a lot of time but looking back - it's not that bad and so worth it.
let me know if you girls have any questions....let me just tell you how much fun this is!!! :)

I am sorry to hear that you are on bed rest Summer that really is no fun. Are you on "pelvic rest" then too? Yesterday and the day before I was on my feet a lot and did quite a bit of walking around. Last night though I was super tired and my lower belly felt sore and pulled. I think I over did it! I have to start to learn to sit down and relax more often but sitting and laying too much gives me a sore back.....
Shelly, it is great to see how much you are enjoying being a mommy! I hope that I love it just as much as you do. I can't wait for these little ones to arrive. I love them so much and they arent even here yet!!! Thing is, I know I dont truly know how much work it will be. I think it will be a lot more than I suspect!

Hi Liane Nope they did not say anything about pelvic rest the only thing she said was nothing in the vagina 24 hrs before the FTN test because i was getting over that YI and that medication or whatever had made it come back positive is what she is thinking..so hope fully after she do this test this week it will be the last one..Yeah Liane make sure you take a load off sometimes it will be good for you..take care

I think that the bigger that they get the harder it is to get a pic do you find that..because when i went they could not get a good pic either because the babies were moving around too much..both of the girls were head down but i am not sure how long they will stay that way..
But i am so glad that your appt went well..I love gong to see the Maternal Fetal Spec because they are so much more detailed that the regular OBGYN..I love my Specialist he is so funny..and he knows my fiance's family..that was a big surprise when we went in and my finace's mother recognized him..
But good luck sweetie and keep up the good work..
