2010 Valentine's Babies

So what does everyone have on their baby;s mattress as cover? Im worried about what I read about waterproof covers and possible relation to SIDS. hmmm...the concerns never end huh. The joys of motherhood.

Oh I ate broccoli the day before and I pump ahead and feed later so maybe that's the milk he had. Hmm..

Unfortunately my 2 year old brings home all sorts of bugs from daycare. She is a walking biohazard. So it does not matter if we stay home or not she will always be there to sneak a bug infested kiss on his eye or mouth or put her dirty baby fingers in his mouth or grab his pacifier off the floor and stick it back in his mouth when I turn around. She is quick like lightening that one. I knew he would eventually get sick from her it was just a matter of time and I am glad he is atleast 7 weeks old now. The bug ran it's course in 24 hours and he is all better now.

Dc i am glad that what you are doing is working for your little one. It is painful for mommy's to see their babies in pain.

kk at 6-8 weeks your little one will get 6 vaccines. They are clustered into 3 shots and they get 2 in one thigh and 1 in the other. Both his legs were sore and I had trouble keeping him comfortable so I gave him tylenol for pain. You can give 0.8ml of tylenol very 6 hours as needed for pain or fever at this age. I only gave him one dose though. He never spike fever but it is probably because i gave him the tylenol.

Lara, I wanted to tell you that I found a bottle that has helped ALOT with the spitting up, fussiness, and gas issues with my daughter...I believe your son gulps the milk down fast too and so forth....so far I have noticed a difference by using these bottles called Tommee Tippee and they are for very sensitive newborns and they are anti colic and prevent fussiness, spit up and so forth... the baby cannot go crazy and gulp the milk down either, the nipples are VERY similar to the breast ... I wanted to pass that along to you and I sure hope it continues to work for my daughter and thought it may help Lukas also.

Neeci sorry about the little one giving the bug to your newest little one... I am glad he is better though. I was reading you can give tylenol BEFORE the shots...is that a good idea? I don't know if I would want to give it to her beforehand, but anyway, let me know your thoughts... I hope you are well otherwise. My little one is sleeping on a 2 hour sleep schedule... she should about 10 lbs I would think now at 5 weeks... but everyone says she is so tiny looking... I think I have a bit longer to go before she sleeps longer and so forth.

thanks KK! My friend uses those with her 5-week old and he still spits up alot. Lukas doesn't spit up too much.

OK....so tell me what you think. Lukas has been fussy the past 2 days and his naps are NOT good. He fights sleep so bad! Last night I decided to feed him even though it wasn't quite time to, but he gulped it down and was still fussy. He seems to like to be held against the chest or upright. The problem is he'll fall asleep, we'll put him in his crib and he wakes up again....it's so frustrating. He hasn't pooped in about 2 days which makes us think that he's hurting somewhere. We just gave him a warm bath and now he's napping finally! He's been up for long stretches which is not normal for him....like this morning he was up from 6:30am to 10 am....just cranky and I could tell he was tired but only slept for 20 minutes and then woke up....

Anyone have suggestions?

Lara, sorry maybe I was mistaken...I thought it was your little one that was gulping the milk and getting gassy and spitting up.

My daughter goes through the same thing and I don't know if it is magic in the gripe water I have given her here and there or the new bottles but when I do use the gripe water or give her the new bottles she is sleeping so much better ... If he has not pooped, that may be the issue as when my little does not poop, she is very aggrevated and wants to be held upright also all the time and it is the same story over again. I am noticing my baby's naps are getting shorter during the day as well but at night a bit longer from 2 hours to sometimes 2 1/2 hours... perhaps it is a phase. GL with that and they sometimes like to be swaddled so when she is VERY fussy, we give her 1/4th gripe water and within minutes she sleeps and is comfy and typically gives a huge burp too LOL!.

Lara that sounds like Easton all day today! I thought maybe it was something I ate that is upseting him. We get him to sleep then yup as soon as we move him to his crib wide awake and cranky! He's done so good up til today I'm not use use to a fussy baby! Lol...

I just talked to my mom tonight about my daughter fussing. She said at a seminar she was at about babies, they talked about somewhere around 6 wks babies can go through a growth spurt, so an otherwise normal happy baby around this time all of a sudden gets really fussy and the moms can't figure out what's going on and it's really nothing. They will get over it soon and be back to your happy baby.

Hmm, growth spurt that makes sense because he's eating constantly today and not spitting up any of it.

Eww.. We were at our friends house yesterday and I was breastfeeding Easton in the other room when all of a sudden I felt some warm gooey stuff in the foot of his sleeper!! He pooped down the side of his leg!! It was daddy's fault because he changed the previous diaper and never fliped the little ruffles around the leg of the diaper out (although I did appreciate his efforts!) lol...
