11 day Luteal Phase

October 08, 2008

My DH and I are trying to conceive baby #2. We have been trying for 3 months. We conceived on the first attempt with #1.

I have been using OPK and it seems I have a short lutel phase. I have 24 day cycles and I detect an lh surge around cd 12. I suppose this means I ovulate on cd 13, leaving me an lp of 11 days.

Should I worry? Do I need to see my DR?

The info on the net is a bit confusing. Some sites say that anything above 10 days lp is normal and others say anything below 12 days lp is considered lpd.

Thank you!

You're right on the cusp of normal as 11 is the borderline for a luteal phase...

Given that you've been pregnant before and only been ttc for about 3months, you can try OPKs for upto six months total and if no pregnancy by then, consider talking to your doc about treatment with either Progesterone or Clomid

I have a short luteal phase, too. Acupuncture helped lengthen it, but, ultimately, Clomid is what helped me get pregnant.

Thank you Doc. I will keep trying then.
