hello,

I am pretty devastated by now because I just had a pap smear done by my family doctor and the results were fine and also a swap which results were fine too. But nevertheless my discharge smells a little bit off and is yellowish and also after having just a couple minutes of sex, I get horribly sore! So I am really conerned that I do have something that my doctor couldnt discover. I re...

New comment from Divamama

Yep Mrsgill, I agree with you. That's why my first thought when I read her symptoms was that she could have BV (Bacterial Vaginosis.) and it is a pain in the butt to have. You can't detect it just running a test for an STD.

Good luck hun, I hope you get a diagnosis and some relief very soon.

New comment from TTC after Miscarriage has!! @ due 03/11/2010

Definitely see a gynocologist. You don't need a referral from you doctor to see one. Use the phone book or word of mouth from one of your girlfriends. I personally believe that all women should have one anyway. And yes, a pap should have picked up on bacterial vaginosis. The culture should show that you have it, if you do and you would be prescribed anitibiotics. Hope you get some answers soon!

Hun that bv know as bacterial vaginost. I had that before and the smell can get on your nerves. I will let him know that they can prescribe medicine to get rid of it. I had to take it twice because it went away then came back. But that was a year in a half ago. I've been fine every since take care and let them know about bv.

No offense to your family practice doctor, but if I were you, I would still request a referral to the OB/Gyn. He can not deny you that although they check for those infections there. Something is definately going on with you in the pelvic region, and it is my belief that someone that specifically specializes (OB/Gyn) in that field should evaluate you.

Remember, you are in control of your health care, not the doctor. A lot of times we are little scared to make reccomendations to our doctor because we feel like they are the expert so they should know.

My first thought when I read about your symptoms was bacterial vaginosis. Did he evalute you for that?

But nevertheless my discharge smells a little bit off and is yellowish and also after having just a couple minutes of sex, I get horribly sore! So I am really conerned that I do have something that my doctor couldnt discover. I read about trichomonas for example and I was wondering if the lab could have overlooked something?? I mean i have to have something because i know how everything feels like when im completly healthy down there. usually i hardly ever get sore. my family doctor just sent me away and said its probably my hormons that cause the smell but i really dont think so. what should i do?

i asked for a referal to a gynecologist but my family doctor just said they deal with any kind of infections or SDIs.

thank you for your answer,

twooutofthree
