Haha, I think I had a glass right before I found out as well, its all good though :)

That sounds yummy on the red meat, wine and everything, im 1 hungry now, and 2 craving wine but gonna wait...haha.

I love my beer, wine, and liquors, just love them all :)

From what I understand 1 glass of wine, or 1 glass of beer is fine a night while breastfeeding without dumping, but anymore then that, one should dump.

So I figured I will have a glass of wine here and there until I get a good breastfeeding habit and good amount frozen so I can pump and dump other amounts. Hopefully it works but we shall see, because I hope to have that down by New Years, when I plan on going all out on the drinking...haha, umm maybe not all out because it will take ohhh 3 drinks and im gone, but we plan on hitting the town that night, and having my parents watch little Noah. Im of course bringing the pump with me,so I can go to the car and pump and dump that...haha. We will see how well my "PLAN" works. I have learned and this is what im gonna do, is that once the baby comes plans are out the window, just to go with the flow, and thats what im for sure gonna do :)

jolene, you're hilarious! i remember my last glass of wine, it was at ruth's chris w/ dh, my brother and his girlfriend... it was a 1/2 glass of riesling (i know what you're thinking why would i have white wine w/ my red meat???- it was b/c i was sharing w/ my bro's g/f and she doesn't like red wine... WHAT!) that i shared w/ my brother's girlfriend. i remember thinking, i wonder if i'm pregnant and if it was going to harm the baby if i was. LOL

i also miss my dirty martinis w/ extra olives. :-)

can you tell me more about your body metabolizing alcohol differently? i plan on breast feeding and don't want it to pass to the baby obviously. i had heard that pumping and throwing out was sufficient? am i mistaken?

I second that! I cant wait, its gonna be great :)

Noah will only be a few days old or older, so I hope its ok if I have a glass of wine, but I hear your bodies metabolism totally rids a glass of wine or glass of beer, anymore it takes longer. Im looking forward to that glass fo wine and to open the bottles I got from last year to go on vacation with, found out I was pregnant and had gotten like 5 bottles for a ski trip, miscarried that one, but still I had them left over, well I might have drank 1 or 2 on that 5th round of CLomid...haha. I was very careful about drinking ESPECIALLY in the 2ww it was only 1-2 glasses of wine here and there, but before the 2WW it was on...haha.

I do love my alcohol, im German and Irish, so there isnt a thing I can do about it...haha.

hey jolene, yeah, i really don't feel like i'm missing out. i have to say, really early on, i REALLY missed having a glass of wine now and then, but that ended pretty quickly. at get togethers, my friends are always reminding me that it's ok, especially now that i'm at the tail end... but really, i have no urge. i always tell them, it's no big deal, and anyway, it's a tease, especially if i want to have 1 more! so i'll just wait and celebrate AFTER the baby is born.

as for thanksgiving and wine... reminds me of last year, i had the most AWESOME pinot noir... it was a 2005 sebastiani russian river valley... it went perfect with turkey. ooohhh!! can't wait! see all the things we have to look forward to? a brand new baby and being a mommy, a great thanksgiving dinner w/ family and some great wine! who could ask for anything more?

Haha Oliver you are soo funny, and yes I have heard the same thing but wouldnt do it. I may have a sip to taste it but thats it, but still havent done that, wanted to but then im like I can wait it out another 8 more weeks. No biggie. They say when breastfeeding you can have 1 glass of wine or 1 beer without having to pump and dump, anymore then that pumping dumping session has to take place...haha. So I know at Thanksgiving dinner im having a glass of wine more then likely.

Kelli we have that here, I will have to check that out for sure. Thanks. Gosh it sounds yummy!

Lori haha, we sure can. If someone says something to me that im not supposed to do or something and I know that im allowed to I give that look...haha!

Jennifer Im not gonna do it I was just curious as so many have said do it its ok, its healthy. It took me to long to get little Noah and there and I dont wanna do anything to harm it, unless I heard oh its really really good for the baby, which im not gonna hear that...haha. Thanks :)

I would say drink a glass every now and then if you want to. Of course Dr's tell you not to drink or smoke but thats because they have to. I quit smoking to prep myself for getting pregnant, best thing I ever did. I also do not drink that often I hate wine and beer, I was always liquor girl, lol. I only drink about once ever 4 or 5 months like big holidays or when I'm going for a "girls night out" those kinds of things. So giving up alcohol and ciggs will be no problem for me at all.

But- wine is just soo... natual. lol. I highly doubt it would hurt the baby at all. You can google it if you want, or just ask your Dr. Once you get very well informed then you can decide for yourself if youre gonna do it or not.. either way I wouldn't judge you. I'm sure it would be OK, but if you check out all the info on it and still don't feel comfortable then don't do it. The most important thing is that you don't feel guilty or stressed or whatever about having done it, that would defeat the purpose of unwinding and drinking the wine in the first place! haha

i've heard on MORE than 1 occasion that a glass of wine does nothing to the baby, AND i've seen friends have a glass of wine or one bottle of beer. my dr. also told me ANYTHING in moderation will not harm the baby, BUT b/c of all the data on what fetal alcohol syndrome does to a baby, that no dr. feels comfortable telling patients it's ok to drink.

of course, my friends that i've seen partake in having a glass of wine/beer have only done it at get togethers at various friend's homes.

of course EVERYONE knows that smoking during pregnancy is a no no as well, but my neighbor likes to brag that she smoked through both her pregnancies and that her children are fine (she's in her 50s i think). i wanted to prove her wrong and when i googled it, i came upon RESEARCH data (unlike a lot of the same things regurgitated by so many sites that smoking is bad w/out telling actual data on live births) that actually tracked smokers/non-smokers to their children over a span of about over 30 years, but the period of smoking was only for the first five months of pregnancy. anyway, in NO WAY am i condoning drinking or smoking while preggo (or even if you're not preggo), but i just thought it was interesting.

i rambled didn't i? LOL.

pretty soon ladies, after your babies are born, you can raise a glass to yourselves and celebrate being a new mommy!

Sarah yeah im not gonna do it just curious as everyone around me keeps saying oh its fine, my doctor said this my doctor said that, im like oh ok. Just curious :)

Kelli thanks for the information and next time in the grocery store im gonna look. I wonder if Publix would carry it?

Now that I am thinking about it..a lot of the grocery stores in NC carried their wine too, like Harris Teeter...look in your wine section next time you shop. IT was always under the NC wine section or the sweet section!

I never had a drop of anything in my pregnancy and like you Jolene, I enjoy a glass of wine in the evening :) My obgyn told me that she would never prescribe alcohol to one of her patients. That being said, I don't think a small glass would be that bad.

Kelli those are GREAT prices! Whats the link to the site? Gosh that makes me wanna go now, but that would be a fun trip for hubby and I to take in the Spring, I just LOVE NC. Its sooo pretty, we both love NC would move there but I just cant leave my parents and brother and friends, other then that I would go in a heartbeat :)

Fran...haha you are soo funny!!! I hear though it is really good for there heart. Hubby might get mad at me if I do it but I think I might once I start getting uncomfortable and close to labor. Like take a nice long warm bath, with a glass of wine, measured to the tee...haha, and hope that it progresses things...haha, who knows. I bet it tasted good though :) Yum Yum :)

well.....I feel that it is ok. I had one glass at about 38 weeks just hoping that it would relax me enough to go into labor......of course didn't work though! :) It took me about 1 hr to drink it b/c I felt very weird. But I did it. I can't imagine doing it in public though....people would be giving you the evil eye! I think you need to do what you feel is ok. I say have a glass if you want. But that is just my opinion. BTW Caden seems to be fine.....he holds his head tilted every now and again, but seems to be fine other than that! Just kidding! LOL!

They do, yes..its in Rose Hill, I beleive is the town. The prices are awesome too..the ones I get range from $7-$12 a bottle and you can get 20% off if you buy a case. We lived in Raleigh, and it was on our drive to Wilmington for us..check out the website!

Kelli yep in SC! That sounds yummy maybe hubby and I will hit that up sometime in the spring or something for fun. do they do wine tastings there? im sure they do! Gosh I love wine, and hubby wants to soooooo badly but he loves his beer, but so do I, but I love my wine as well..haha.

I really want to know the answer to this, because im not saying I would do it but not saying I wouldnt do it. Its soo freaking hard to see EVERYDAY the bottles of wine in the wine rack on the kitchen counter, they look so good...haha. I hear its totally safe, but im to scared to bring myself to it, until I get WAY WAY more information, I just hear so many doctors say its fine, and I cant see that many doctors saying its fine if its not, you know.

Lori...haha, I know what you mean! Its sooo funny! I like to smell hubbies beer because it smells soo good to me, and people look at me if we are out, im like BITE ME ok it smells good im not drinking the dang thing...haha.

I wouldnt drink a glass in public thats for sure! The stares you would get would be bad, but I have seen quite a few women do it, and im like oh I could not do that...haha.

Good question- I dont think I could bring myself to do it, but doesnt mean I think its wrong if its safe.

I know a good friend of mine who just delivered On Sept 10th, her doctor told her one night when she was VERY early in labor like 1/2 - 2 cms that she could have a glass to help her get some sleep that night, and to take a bath... so Im assuming they woudlnt say that unless its completely healthy.

LOL I was just thinking what if you had it in public- can you imagine the stares you would get from people! LOL I got DH a drink at a bar one night and carried it to the table, and people were staring- I thought I needed a sign that said- THIS IS NOT FOR ME- ITS FOR DH! LOL

Ok soo many people tell me oh its ok to have that glass of red wine while in the 3rd trimester, not that I have and not that I will, im just so tired of hearing people saying it.

Is it really safe?

Dont get me wrong I love my wine, but I of course havent had a thing while pregnant and I just dont think I could even think about doing it, but I hear it can be so healthy for the unborn babies heart just like it is for us.

I hear if someone is having trouble with pains or other things the doctor instead of prescribing something to take will say I would rather see you drink a glass of red wine before bed to relax you.

Really how much truth is there to this. I know my cousin had a glass basically a night, because her doctor said it was totally healthy and totally fine, she did this through the whole pregnancy, and there daughter is as healthy as can be, never gets sick or anything.

Anyways I had to ask, I just have to know!
